Introduction
Translated by Nadeem Abdul Hamid from Noor-ul-Eidaah wa Najaat-ul-Arwaah of Allaamah al-Hasan bin
‘Ammaar ash-Sharnubulaali with notes by Muhyi-ud-deen Abdul Hamid.
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise is for Allah, the Lord of all the worlds; And may peace and blessings descend upon our master Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets, and upon his pure family and all of his companions.
Says the needy servant, Abul-Ikhlaas Hasan al-Wafaa`iy ash-Sharunbulaali al-Hanafee, to his Master, the Independent of all wants:
Truly some of my close friends have requested me, may Allah treat us and them with His unknown benevolence, to produce an introduction to the basics of worship: accessible to the beginner and not diverging into the issues requiring long explanation.
So I have sought the help of Allah, Most High, and I have responded to the request, seeking through it the reward (of Allah). And I do not mention (the issues) except those upon which the people of knowledge have expressed the most preference, with no exaggeration.
And I have named it (this work): Noorul-Eidaah wa Najaatul-Arwaah (“The Light of Explanation and the Salvation of the Souls”).
And I ask Allah that He benefits His servants through it and that He perpetuates it usefulness.
